The tension forces present in wire drawing and wire processing range from a few newtons in case of soft and thin copper wires to several kN in stranding machines for high strength wire ropes. The measurement and control of tension force after the extruder is an important application in cable production. Because of the greatly varying requirements the mechanical design of sensors is strongly influenced by the application under consideration.
