A papermaking machine is a special challenge to web tension measurement and control because the large and heavy rolls running at very high velocities but excerpting only very low tension forces. Required are therefore pillow block sensors which are extraordinary stiff but also very sensitive to small web tension changes.

For paper processing machines such as roll cutting machines and cut length lines HAEHNE offers radial force sensors for all force measurement ranges as well is precisely adjustable amplifier and digital controller. The first fieldbus amplifier (Interbus) for web tension measurement was developed in the early 90s by the HAEHNE Company with the support of a government grant.
