FAQ
What is web tension measurement?
Web tension measurement records the tensile force acting on a moving web of paper, film or other flexible materials. Precise measurement prevents web running problems, waste, tears and quality defects.
Why is web tension measurement so important in the converting industry?
Even small deviations in web tension can lead to wrinkles, poor print quality, register errors or unstable winding processes. Stable web tension control improves quality, process reliability and machine availability.
Which sensors are suitable for my system?
That depends on the roller geometry, the force range, the material and the installation situation. We will advise you individually and create a free sensor design. Alternatively, you can use the HAEHNE Configurator.
Which HAEHNE products are used for web tension measurement?
Typical solutions include force measuring bearings, measuring rollers, force measuring blocks and
tension sensors – depending on the force range and installation position of your system.
What is the difference between force measuring bearings and measuring rollers?
Force measuring bearings measure the forces on existing rollers. Measuring rollers integrate the sensor elements directly into the roller and offer maximum precision at high speeds.
How do I select the correct sensor size or force class?
The force class is determined by the web tension, roll diameter, deflection angle and safety reserve. We will calculate this for you – quickly and free of charge.
What role does the deflection angle play in web tension measurement?
The deflection angle influences the force transmitted to the sensor. An incorrect angle leads to inaccurate measurements. We check your installation situation in advance.
Which amplifiers are suitable for web tension measurement?
Our DMX measuring amplifiers and digital controllers deliver drift-free, stable signals and can be easily integrated into PLCs or machine controls.
Can existing systems be retrofitted?
Yes. Force measuring bearings or force measuring blocks can usually be installed without major modifications. We provide support with selection and integration.
Do you offer support during commissioning?
Yes. We provide support by telephone or remote consultation. Commissioning the DMX amplifiers is quick and easy.
