Profibus Measuring Amplifiers

Profibus (Process Field Bus) is a standard for fieldbus communication in automation technology.

The Profibus DP (decentralized periphery) is specially tailored to the communication between automation systems and decentralized peripheral devices (sensors and actuators) at the field level. In manufacturing technology, the focus is on the diagnostic options.

With Profibus DP, mono- or multi-master systems can be implemented. The monomaster system consists of a DP master class 1 and max. up to 125 slaves. Due to the pure master-slave access procedure, the shortest bus cycle time is achieved with this configuration. Data rates of up to 12 Mbit / s are possible.
In the multimaster system there are several masters on the bus. These can form independent subsystems consisting of a master and the associated slaves. Another possibility of a multimaster system is that further master devices function as additional project planning or diagnostic devices.

The Profibus DP has been defined in IEC 61158 / IEC 61784 since 1999 with other fieldbus and Ethernet networks.
